What are drain hoses
Drainage hose is made of polypropylene with fittings (adapters) on the ends. They are sold in stores:
Standard hose from 1 to 5 meters.- Telescopic (corrugated) hose. Convenient in that it eliminates kinks during use, but there is a disadvantage - it is prone to clogging.

There are two ways, differing from each other by the complexity of execution:
- Replace the old drain hose with a new, longer one. This method has a small disadvantage. To remove the old hose, you need to disassemble some parts of the washing machine. In most models, in general, the front wall is completely disassembled. Not a very convenient option for replacing the drain hose.
- To buy an additional hose in a specialized store and connect it to the existing one. The method does not require much effort, which makes the extension of the drain hose a simple task.
How to lengthen the drain hose of the washing machine?
Step 1. Determine how much length is missing.
We take a tape measure and pull it from the sewer to the hose. It is not necessary to pull the tape measure, let it lie loosely. Otherwise, the hose will also be in a stretched position. It is always worth leaving a margin.
Plumbing or appliance stores provide hoses in different sizes, for any demand. The hose is divided into modules, each of which is 0.5 meters long. You can choose the necessary length by winding off the modular hose.
In the case of lengthening the drain hose, the main thing is not to overdo it.
Its breakdown in this case will not be long in coming. Extending the drain hose in the washing machine, do not forget about its geometric characteristics. The top point of the hose should not be higher than 100 cm. Otherwise, the water will not be able to drain, because the power of the pump will drop many times.
Step 2: Determine the length, choose special connectors
They are small tubes made of plastic. And they are needed in order to insert the ends of the hoses into them and secure them with clamps, which are sold in auto stores.
Their size should be 16 by 27 mm.
The ends of the drain hoses can have different diameters. For example, the original hose is 19 mm, and the one that is extended 22 mm.
You can use connectors of different diameters in such situations. In order to save money, the connector is made from an ordinary plastic tube.
The main thing is to guess with a suitable diameter. It is also fastened with a clamp.
Step 3: Prepare materials, tools
So, here is what will be needed to extend the drain hose:
- extension hose, a suitable length;
- connector;
- clamps;
- screwdriver.
Step 4: Extension
If all the necessary things are prepared, we proceed to the extension of the drain hose.
Put on clamps. The end of the hose coming from the washing machine in the connector. Purchased hose is also inserted into the connector. Clamp tighten with a screwdriver. You should not do this too much, just enough to fix it so that the hose does not slip.
Step 5: Connecting to the sewer
All steps are passed. Next, the drain hose is connected either to the drainage system or to a siphon with an extra compartment, or lowered into a sanitary product, simply speaking in the bathtub, and note that you will need a holder to fix the hose. The drain is checked for leaks.
