It happens that your favorite thing after a wash faded, it happens that the thing faded after the first wash. What to do? Do not worry, there are ways to return things to their original color.
But, frankly, it is easier to prevent this than to return the thing to its original state.
Let's figure out how to properly wash things.
Causes of shedding of things after washing
The main reason, of course, the wrong washing mode. Then too dirty thing has not yet had time to wash, and the dirt from it just leaves stains on the product.
The addition of a large amount of detergent is also very influential. Do not get carried away with the addition of bleach, for example.
A law known to everyone, you cannot wash light, dark and colored things together. It is most dangerous for white things, they will be the first to acquire colored stains. That's why we wash separately dark and white or light and color separately, then your clothes won't shed.
It is best to wash new clothes separately from the old, because there is a great risk that the dye from the new clothes can stain the old ones.
As a side note: If new clothes still dye, as it often happens with jeans, you can soak them in a solution of kitchen salt for several hours. Salt helps to fix the dye on the fabric and the thing will not stain the others during the wash.
Do not wash colored fabrics in water too hot for them.
Pay attention to the labels, they often indicate at what temperature you should wash things. Do not ignore the manufacturer's recommendations.
Saving Faded Clothes
The quickest way
It is best to rescue a still wet thing, without waiting until it finally dries. There are several options for rescuing, you can choose a comfortable one for you:
- Wash the thing several times in cold water.
- Soak the laundry with bleach. And then wash again.
- In a basin you need to prepare a warm soapy solution, soap should use household soap, you can dissolve it whole. Then add a small amount of salt, acetic acid and potato starch. It is necessary for the liquid to become a thick mass, this mass should be applied in a thick layer to the affected areas of the fabric and leave it for twelve hours. Then wash the thing separately from other fabrics in the mode recommended by the manufacturer.
- Instead of soap, you can simply dilute the detergent in warm water and leave the faded garment in it for two hours, and then wash it separately.
- Boil things. Put a solution of baking soda and grated laundry soap on the fire. Put your clothes in it and boil for about half an hour.
Attention: the method has a significant disadvantage, things can turn yellow.
Bringing back the white color
Although everyone knows that white things should be washed separately, it also happens that faded clothes were washed before white things, that's how it can happen that white things stained after washing. Here we can exactly use bleaching agents, any firm will do, but the main thing is to follow the instructions on the package clearly, so as not to spoil the product.
Important: Among all the bleaching agents it is worth recalling the good old whiteness. It is a universal means, copes not only with stains on fabrics, but also cleans sanitary ware, tiles and disinfects surfaces.
If your white things are made of synthetics, then solutions of aspirin and ammonia, soap and hydrogen peroxide will work well for whitening.
Bringing color back to colored fabrics
What do I do if a colored garment has faded? First of all, sort the laundry by color, remove the thing that stained the others and wash everything again. You can use a solution of a vial of ammonia and ten liters of boiling water.
Important: this method is not suitable for silk or wool.
Colored faded fabric is better to rewash several times at maximum speed, so that it no longer stains the others.
Baking soda is also good with colored stains on colored things. Mix it with water so that a pulp is formed and apply it for twenty minutes on the dirt. You can repeat for as long as you like. Until the stains disappear, and then wash the clothes again.
What to do with delicate fabrics?
If after washing the clothes are stained and these things are made of delicate fabrics, then you need a special approach. On silk or wool, you can not use bleach, you can try it only on a small area and see how it will work. But it is best to use mustard powder, dilute it in the proportion of 1 tablespoon of powder to 1 liter of warm water. Soak things for three hours, and then wash the clothes.
A little conclusion.

Over the years, there have been many ways to deal with this problem. Surely, some of them will help you too. In an extreme case you can always contact a dry cleaner or completely repaint the thing.
