As a rule, an obsolete washing machine is simply thrown in the trash, replacing it with a new one. But what if you could make something very beautiful and practical out of the old parts. But what can be made from an old washing machine? You ask.
Well, for example, a table for the country out of the drum from the washing machine. And for this absolutely does not need any special skills, everything can be done in the usual conditions and with your own hands. And the design options, how to make such a table is quite a lot, to taste and color, consider some.
Option one. A small table on three legs
In the first example, the drum sort of "hangs" on three legs, covered by a table top.
So, what you will need for work.
Directly the drum from the washing machine, which you have previously cleaned to a shine.
- A wooden tabletop or a board from which it can be made, then you will need and a saw.
- Strips of wood for the legs.
- Primer, paint, brushes, tape measure, pencil.
- Sandpaper or sander, drill.
- Metal bolts.
So, step one:
Determine the desired height of the finished product and the dimensions of the tabletop, measure out all the necessary dimensions.
Step two:
Cut a round tabletop, it can be cut, as from large plywood, for example, or from several boards connected to each other in a panel, but then you will need to additionally fix the boards with self-tapping screws or a wooden crowbar.
Step three:
Prepare the legs of the right height from wooden planks.
Step four:
Now all the wooden parts should be well sanded and primed to avoid picking up a splinter, as well as to make the table smooth and even.
Step Four:
Join the entire structure together. Holes are drilled in the bars, two on each, and bolts are inserted into each of them and the drum is attached to them, in which holes are drilled on the same level. Nuts are screwed on the bolts. On the tops of the bars we fix the table top with self-tapping screws, you can even use carpenter's glue.
The most fun step
Well now paint the wooden parts in the colors you like and you can even apply drawings.
Quite simple, isn't it?
Option two. A small coffee table with lamps inside
There is another design option, here you will get as if a small coffee table, inside the drum mount lamps, so that the bollard just glows from the inside.
So, materials.
- A drum cleaned to a shine.
- Two low voltage spotlights and a junction box.
- Three 50mm wheels for table top.
- A board or plywood for the table top.
- Jigsaw, pencil, tape measure, sander.
- 6mm bolts, with 4 square nuts
Step one:
In the bottom of the drum with a jigsaw cut a round hole, grind it with a machine.
Attention: do not forget about safety when working with tools
Step two:
From the tabletop cut a circle of the same diameter as the drum. We make holes and fix it to the drum with bolts.
Step three:
Inside the drum, mount the spotlights on the bolts. Screw on the nuts. Run the wires from the spotlights into a junction box, it will allow you to make one cord for both lamps.
Step four:
To the bottom of the drums, use nuts to add the wheels.
Done!
Option three. A small stool.
The next option can even be used, for example, as a chair for a child in some situations. In any case, in the country house it will definitely come in handy.
You will need:
- A board or plywood for the tabletop.
- Strips of wood for legs
- Jigsaw, drill, glue, grinder and reversible screwdrivers.
- 14 self-tapping screws.
Step one:
Prepare four legs for the small table. They need to be sanded so there are no splinters.
Step two:
At the bottom of the drum we drill holes to attach the sheaths, you can attach the legs to folded crosswise planks, which are then already attached to the drum with self-tapping screws.
Step Three:
Cut a round tabletop to the diameter of the drum and drill it to the top. The top needs to be sanded down and sharp edges removed so you can sit on it.
The product is finished.
Other options
You can come up with a lot of interesting home-made items from the drum of an old washing machine, you can take the already proposed options as a basis and improve them. You can, for example, make a hole on the side of the drum and attach handles to it, you get a kind of improvised table. There are a lot of options, use your imagination.
