Any bleach makes things cleaner, gets rid of grayness and yellowing. That's why it is added to the washing machine. But not all bleach can be poured into an electromechanical washing machine.
Today we will tell you what bleach can be used for automatic washing.

Types of Bleach for Automatic Washing Machines
Bleaches come in chlorine-containing and oxygen-containing types.
One common chlorine bleach is "Belizna".
Belizna has a number of advantages:
- effective bleaching even in cold water;
- A cheap product;
- ease of use: does not require boiling, easy dosing;
- It disinfects and successfully removes stains.
Oxygen-containing bleaches
They are a solution of hydrogen peroxide. In addition to it, they include: active-surfactants, stabilizers, fragrance, optical brighteners, Ph regulators.
Advantages of oxygen-containing bleaches:
- The main advantage of peroxide bleaches is their use not only for cotton and linen fabrics, but also for wool, silk and synthetic materials.
- Colored fabrics become brighter and fresher when oxygen bleaches are used, dirt deposits are washed away, and dyes are not ruined.
- They can be used without fear of chemical elements reacting with any laundry detergent.
- Hypoallergenic oxygen bleaches put them above chlorine bleaches because they are not harmful to the human body.
- They also have disinfecting properties.
They are sold in both liquid and powder form.
Peroxide bleach solutions are short-lived: they lose their useful properties when stored for a long time, while in powders they last much longer.
Powdered oxygen bleaches whiten laundry at least 60 degrees. And delicate fabrics and colored underwear at high temperatures can lose their original appearance, so for colored fabrics it is better to use liquid peroxide bleaches, which are much softer than powders and are gentle to colored and fine laundry, do not destroy the fabric, do not spoil the pattern.
Optical Bleaching Products
Optical bleaches are another category of detergents that improve the cleanliness of fabrics. But it should be noted that their whiteness is only apparent, as the luminescent dyes in them add to the appearance of whiteness.
The disadvantages of chlorine bleach are:
- aggressiveness: over time, the material tears, yellowing;
- it is impossible to bleach wool, silk and synthetic fabrics;
- Negatively affects metal and rubber. To prevent the aggressive substance-sodium hydrochloride from corroding the packaging, "Belize" is packaged in plastic bottles;
- the smell of chlorine cannot be tolerated by some women: it causes an allergic reaction in them;
- When interacting with some laundry detergents, "Belize" becomes more aggressive, which causes corrosion of the fabric.
Before you decide whether it is possible to use chlorine bleach for a washing machine, you need to take a look at the instructions for this or that brand.
In general, chlorine bleach is not used for automatic washing. The instructions for each model tell you whether it can be used or not. If the unit has four compartments, it means that it is adapted for "Belize".
In machines where the rubber spigots have been replaced with plastic spigots and the drum is made of high-strength material, we use chlorine bleach.
Instructions for Using Chlorine Bleach in a Washing Machine
If it is still possible to use chlorine bleach in the washing machine, you need to act according to the instructions for use.
- First of all, inspect the clothes and remove all metal parts. If they cannot be removed, do not pour chlorine for automatic washing because it will darken the metal.
- Moisten the clothes and put them in the drum.
- It is better to pour "Belitna" in a cuvette: 125g of means, if a small amount of laundry is put in the drum, and 250g when the machine is fully loaded. The exact dosage is: one tablespoon per liter of water.
- Pour in the laundry detergent. It is needed for simultaneous washing and bleaching.
- But, if you decide to pour chlorine bleach into the drum, then before you do it, dilute it in a large amount of water, so that the aggressive substance does not spoil the laundry. But it's best to pour it into a container so that the effect on the clothes will be uniform.
- Put it on the "Stain Removal" mode. The washing temperature should be no more than 45 degrees.
- If there is no need to wash, then put the mode "Rinse".
- Rinse the laundry several times after bleaching.
- Rinse the laundry.
Where to pour the bleach in the washing machine
The washer has a container for pouring any bleach and pouring laundry detergent. In modern washing machines, the container consists mainly of 3 compartments. It is important to know exactly what purpose each compartment is for and what detergent should be poured into it.
Washing machines have a retractable or removable container. If the washing machine has a horizontal load, the tray is located on its front or top panel.
If the model of the device with a vertical load, i.e. the hatch is located on top, the container is on the inside of the lid. Basically, the tray is equipped with a button that helps you remove the compartments and wash them.
Let's take a look at what these compartments are and in which compartment of the washing machine to pour the bleach.
One of the compartments, the smallest one, is for the rinse aid. On the compartment there is a restriction strip. In most cases, the sector has the inscription: "Max".
But there are also other markings. Different manufacturers have different markings. Most often it is an asterisk or a flower, there may be an inscription: "Softener". Softeners, conditioners, antistatic agents are poured into this compartment (liquids).
The middle compartment is marked with the letters A or I. This is a compartment for soaking or prewash programs, in which liquids are not poured. Only powder is poured into them. The sector is located in the left or right corner.
The largest by volume is the section for the main wash. It may be marked B or II, but if it is not, then pay attention to its size. The compartment is filled with shampoos, gel detergents, stain remover, machine detergent bleach, and laundry detergents.
The location of the compartments depends on the manufacturers.
Where to pour chlorine bleach
If the washing machine is designed to use chlorine bleach, it has a special compartment for it. The cuvette must be pulled out completely.
Pour the "Belize" into the special compartment, which is inserted into the compartment for prewash. In order not to over pour the excess aggressive liquid, there is a mark on the compartment, limiting its amount.
Cleaning the washing machine with bleach
Sometimes, if you do not follow the rules for using the washing machine, there may be an unpleasant smell, which is difficult to get rid of.
A musty smell can appear if:
- you put dry, dirty clothes in the washer, gradually getting more and more laundry, and only after all your business, when you are free, do laundry;
- you do not wipe the drum, the sealing rubber and keep the door closed after washing;
- you are using poor quality detergent or detergent that is not suitable for your model of electromechanical device. Soap residue left on the drum will cause the formation of mould fungus. It gives off an unpleasant smell.
The musty smell from the washing machine warns you to disinfect it to kill harmful microorganisms and bacteria inside the unit.
Never load laundry into a bad-smelling washing machine, or it will acquire the same odor as the machine. The ingrained smell of mold on your clothes and linens will haunt you for a long time.
- Pour bleach-free laundry detergent into the compartment and set the mode at a high temperature-90-95 degrees, but without the laundry. This method of cleaning should be carried out once every six months. After washing, the drum and the sealing rubber are wiped dry. Leave the door open.
- In the compartment for the main wash we pour "Belitna" (one liter) and turn on the mode of 90-95 degrees. As soon as the door heats up, put the washing machine on pause or turn off altogether. With "Belize" the machine stands for an hour or two, then turn on the washing machine to drain and rinse, introducing vinegar in the conditioner department. The second time we rinse without adding any agents.
You can also clean the washing machine with Amway oxygen bleach. Pour it (100ml) into the main compartment and turn it on at 60 degrees without laundry.
Washing with oxygen bleach in a washing machine
Nowadays, many modern washing machines have a special built-in program "Bleach". If there is such a program in the washing machine, then first sort the laundry. Wash your underwear first: panties, bodices, undershirts.
Linens cannot be washed with towels, tulle with clothes, colored fabrics with whites. Cotton underwear can be bleached together, such as socks and T-shirts.
- We put the laundry in a drum.
- Pour detergent into the main wash.
- Wash on specific cycle: wash tulle and delicate fabrics on "Delicate modefine fabrics on "Delicate" mode, bedclothes on "Cotton" mode.
- After washing, fill or pour oxygen bleach into the special compartment marked triangle and set the program "Bleach".
If the washing machine is not equipped with a special program for whitening, the guide to give the laundry whiteness is different.
Dry bleach for the washing machine
As mentioned above, powdered oxygen bleach is effective only at a temperature of 60-90 degrees.
Therefore, it is better to wash the laundry first (the powder already does laundry at 30-40 degrees), and then bleach it.
Sometimes powder bleach adds substances that bleach laundry at 40 degrees. Of course, such bleach is expensive, too.
In this case, we pour the detergent into the prewash compartment, and the bleach into the main compartment. We choose the pre-soak mode and wash.
Liquid bleach can be used not after washing, but during washing. It can be added to the compartment by diluting it a little with water some time after the laundry detergent has dissolved.
Tips for better laundry whitening in the washing machine
To better whiten laundry in the washing machine, soak it in a solution of a tablespoon of ammonia and 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes, and then wash it in it with bleach. Your linens and tulle will turn white.
To remove stains from kitchen towels, soak them overnight in the following mixture: vegetable oil, oxygen bleach, baking sodaWashing powder (three tablespoons each).
The next day, wash them on "Fast" mode. You will be surprised how clean and white they are.
Today we told you how to use and where to pour bleach in the washing machine. We hope that our tips helped you turn grayed and yellowed things into white, and that colored things regained their color and freshness.
Next to the powder compartment there is a compartment for the conditioner. We only do laundry with it =) After spin cycle the clothes almost dry in Indesit smells only conditioner no extraneous odors. The washing machine is awesome)
Hello.
Can you tell me how to bleach the laundry when washing in the LG F4M5TS3W?
This washing machine has no separate compartment for bleach (there are only two - for powder and conditioner). Thanks in advance.
